The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.


Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
Assesses patient environment for any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards.
Reports any indications of abuse or neglect to medical provider(s), nurse leader, and/or appropriate agency.
Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Manages a care team, providing oversight and delegation to members as appropriate.
Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the exceptional care provided to patients.
Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.
Manages the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient group

Assists with cardiovascular data mining and submission.
Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patients/procedures.
Cleans and disinfects procedure room, pre op, and post procedure area and equipment.
Follows department policies and protocols for safety in Cardiac Cath Lab.

Nursing Diploma or ASN required; HCA Florida Blake Hospital is a 383 bed hospital. We are the only state-designated Level II trauma center in Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, open-heart surgery, burn care, cancer care, joint replacement and inpatient rehabilitation. We have an onsite day care program, Happy Cubs, a 24 hour employee fitness center and a healthy work environment.
