Blue Linx is looking for a Director, Global Trade Compliance that will be responsible for developing global import activities to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign customs laws and regulations as well as audit, maintain, and perform all activities associated with the company’s various Customs initiatives. This role requires ongoing strategic development, strong leadership, and execution of BlueLinx’s trade compliance programs and processes and is responsible for working closely with BlueLinx’s third party customs broker overseeing the customs process. In addition, the Director, Global Trade Compliance advises various levels of the organization to drive value for the business units by efficiently and effectively navigating the global trade and export compliance environment.
Liaise with overseas Manufacturers and Suppliers and oversee Third Party Broker to ensure Customs Compliance including performing monthly audits of import records.
Develop, maintain, and implement appropriate global trade compliance policies and processes to facilitate all Customs compliance requirements for goods crossing borders.
Collaborate with the Sourcing and Commercial Business Units to understand and support current and future operations, processes and/or projects, validate country of origin information and advise on potential customs issues/questions.
Monitor the global trade regulatory changes, rulings, and case-law to assess risk and impact on Company operations.
Bachelor’s degree in international business, international relations, international trade, or a related degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
6 plus years with US and international trade compliance
Ability to work independently to originate, execute, and complete trade compliance initiatives - including the ability to draft documents, policies, and communications in a detailed manner, while still being concise and consumable the audience.
Comfortable multi-tasking and managing projects.
