Montgomery County Emergency Service (MCES) is Hiring Every day at MCES we work to fulfill our mission to improve the lives of individuals facing crises and emergencies brought on by serious mental illness. We are deeply committed to offering increasingly effective crisis intervention services and ever-improving psychiatric care. We are located on the grounds of Norristown State Hospital in Norristown, PA and accessible by public transportation. We are looking for a Full Time Director to join our Crisis Intervention team.
Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm – Position requires on call responsibilities.
Weekend availability may be required
Education/Experience Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or Education and 3 years of mental health direct care experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of mental health direct care experience, 2 of which must be supervisory. Will consider any combination of experience, education or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required. Experience and knowledge of Montgomery County behavioral health service network and the mental health procedures act a plus.
Director of Crisis Intervention is responsible for the overall operation of the Department including the planning, organizing, and implementing of departmental policy and procedures as guided by hospital policy and hospital mission and vision, as well regulating and accrediting bodies.
Coordinates and supervises the daily operations of the Crisis Intervention department includes admissions to our inpatient unit, Crisis Hotline, Walk in and 988 service.
Works in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Shift Coordinator, crisis staff and the hotline staff to ensure appropriate crisis case management, follow up, and quality review.
The position also requires close collaboration with the Montgomery County Commitment Office including assistance with involuntary petitions and evaluations. Collaboration with other parts of the Crisis system also required.
Provides appropriate supervision of subordinate staff including hiring, training, monitoring, performance feedback and discipline. Staff scheduling and the provision of back-up and/or supplemental coverage as service needs change. Ensures holidays and vacations are appropriately staffed. Accurately completes and submits, within specified timeframes, all personnel or payroll related paperwork including timesheets, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and on-site orientations, and mandatory training documentation.
P’s, Mental Health Procedures Act, DHS, TJC, regulations, facility, crisis memos, trainings and resource materials relevant for the Crisis department.
Ensures departmental policy and procedures comply with regulations for reimbursement, accrediting, and regulatory bodies, including TJC, Medicare, DHS, DDAP and other third party payment agencies.
Supports the overall program by building connections with community partners such as inpatient referral sources, law enforcement, and other parts of the behavioral health service delivery system; Flexibility with schedule and commitment to attendance for the training period and continued development is a must.
