As a Senior Director of ML Engineering, you will head the core ML innovation group at SymphonyAI, a group of very talented ML Engineers and scientists experimenting with the state of the art in Generative AI and Predictive AI and defining the future products for the company. You will be leading a startup within a startup, working on areas such as:

  • GenAI Autonomous Agents: taking our copilots to auto-pilots. Auto-gen like architectures, LLMs and sandbox environments supporting them
  • LVMs (Large vision models) and other multi-modal applications in copilots
  • Cheaper and faster inferencing across our model portfolio
  • Foundation models beyond text etc.

Job Description:

Roles and responsibilities

A typical day or week in this role will require:

  • Map real customer problems to the state-of-the art AI and preferably AGI way of solving them
  • Hands on technical leadership: brainstorm the latest in AI and GenAI developments with the team and prototype new approaches quickly in a small working group
  • Define both short and long term roadmap and weekly execution for the team for both PoCs and production code deliverables
  • Lead code reviews, design reviews, end to end ML pipeline development
  • Setting up metrics and ML benchmarks and lead systematic model development, helping your team make progress against those benchmarks
  • Experiment with cheaper and more efficient implementations of the models, both LLMs and structured data models
  • Work with internal teams to build high performance data pipelines, feature stores, model hosting and monitoring services in cloud infrastructure
  • Work with internal stakeholders and occasionally with end customers to make sure the latest and best modeling approaches solve real customer problems and can be appreciated by the customer in terms of ROI

Required Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field of study
  • At least 10 years of experience in building and shipping applied ML products
  • At least 5 years experience in technical or people leadership roles: building and leading ML Engr, data science or software engineering teams
  • Experience collaborating with multiple engineering teams across organizational boundaries
  • Experience with Foundation models, Generative AI or large ML models
  • Fluency in Python and ML frameworks like Pytorch or Tensorflow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ML model hosting, training and inference optimization and MLOps in general
  • Experience leading an AI platform team
  • Hands-on with modern deep learning and neural network architectures, particularly Transformer models, Graph Neural Networks or other self supervised learning architectures
  • Working knowledge of distributing training across GPUs with data and model parallelism
