Summary

Attending Consult Liaison/Emergency Department Psychiatrist

Southern Maine Healthcare seeks a board certified psychiatrist for consultation with the Emergency Department for behavioral health patients assessment, disposition, and treatment recommendations. The position works in coordination with our Maine Behavioral Health Crisis Services, who see all behavioral health patients, and with the Emergency Department Physicians to whom the consultation is provided. The position also provides floor consultations for the hospital.

The position is with Maine Behavioral Healthcare, working physically at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford. There is a 40 bed inpatient behavioral health unit at the SMHC Sanford campus, a Psychiatric Partial Hospital, and an integrated medication assisted treatment program as a part of SMHC for different levels of care of referral. In addition, SMHC has ECT at its Sanford site. MBH in Biddeford has access to outpatient services, both Child and Adult, Adult ACT services, as well as CSU and residential services.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Education: Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School. Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.

    • License/ Certification: Current and valid license as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, or be eligible for examination by the American Board as documented by written evidence. Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry. Current DEA Registration Certificate.

    • Experience: 3+ years experience inclusive residency and/or fellowship training.

    • Meet other credentialing criteria defined in Medical Staff By-laws
