Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient -- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

We are seeking someone who excels in fast-paced learning with dynamic flexibility in a critical care setting. This position encompasses direct nursing care to critically ill patients, while ensuring safety and comfort, within our family centered care model.
The Texas Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is divided into 4 cohorts for better patient outcomes.9 Legacy Tower: Surgical and Neuro-surgical Intensive Care Unit that encompasses post liver & kidney transplants, trauma patients, seizure disorder patients, and post-operative patients
* 10 Legacy Tower: Medical Intensive Care Unit focusing on pulmonary/pulmonary hypertension patients, bone marrow transplant/hematology/oncology patients
* 11 Legacy Tower: Medical Intensive Care unit that encompasses a mix of medical-surgical patients.
* 12 Legacy Tower: Transitional Intensive Care Unit is a unique cohort that focuses on our chronic, technology dependent patients who need intense education with the patient and family before discharging home.
Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental ( age - appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner.
* Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record.
* Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record
* Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate
* Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members.
* Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner.
* Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
* Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives.
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
* Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is required + signed agreement
* Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS -American Heart Association certification are required
* One (1) year of professional nursing experience
* Operate unit specific equipment
* Able to work nights
* Knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS and interdisciplinary collaboration
