Broadcast NOC Systems Engineer

Daystar is looking for a Broadcast NOC Systems Engineer to work at our Headquarters in Bedford, Texas. The NOC Systems Engineer will serve Daystar Television Network through performance of engineering, design and maintenance tasks related to systems in the Broadcast Network Operations Center (NOC). They will oversee and maintain the Web-streaming systems and maintain the Internal IP Network Connectivity for these and related production systems in the facility. IP networking skills to be utilized extensively along with back-end server support of various server systems proposed or in use with multiple OS deployments. The ideal candidate is a self-starting team player who thrives on keeping all the engines running, with a desire to continue learning. Must be a Christian, committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Job Responsibilities: Works with Sr. Network Operations Engineer (SNOE) Fully co-responsible for all Master Control / Network Operation Center technical operations, installations and maintenance Systems include: A/V Routers and signal path equipment; Encoders; Ingest and Playout servers; QC equipment; Signal Processing; Control; Traffic; Remote Monitoring; Multi-viewers; IP Network fabric components; Closed Captioning. Primary Engineer for Harmonic playout systems, Aveco automation and OSI traffic software Become fully knowledgeable of operations and all components Hardware and signal path maintenance Software maintenance and support for Traffic, Ingest and Playout, both on-prem and cloud based Telestream Vantage Lightspeed server support and maintenance Primary Engineer responsible for Web Streaming Systems Hardware maintenance, coordination of encoders and signal path Software maintenance of encoders and related devices Engineering Support to Web Master (Business IT Department) Signal integrity and encoding quality Knowledge of AWS Elemental Live encoders a plus Assistant Engineer for NOC / Production IP Networking Assist SNOE in SIAR (Station In A Rack) installations and maintenance Assist in Documentation of all operational procedures in purview of job description Other responsibilities as assigned Reports to: Director of Studio Engineering Occasional weekend work may be required Maintain a good attendance record Adhere to Daystar Statement of Core Values, including all policies listed in Employee Handbook Knowledge Requirements: Operational knowledge of systems previously listed Strong computer/server skills required: Linux, Windows Server, ZFS, 1FS Layer 3 IP Networking Certifications preferred, or demonstrable experience VM Ware experience a plus Proficient in Office 365 apps Visio, Auto Cad or similar platform experience for documentation helpful Ability to accommodate continuing technical education College Degree (Technical, Broadcast or IP Network Engineering) preferred, or experience equivalent Familiarity with SMPTE 2110-(n) protocol preferred Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk and to sit at workstation for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Climb ladders, bending, pushing. Must pass a medical physical exam and background check. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be able to work extended hours during special events; available to work during weather-related conditions as necessary.
