Lightspeed is a startup company focusing on automated robotic construction. Here we are solving for skilled labor shortages by utilizing industrial robots with AI fed proprietary software to build panelized houses. We aim to make housing affordable for everyone and in all locations. Our product is built with better quality, faster schedules, and lower cost than typical construction methods. The focus of the VP of Production is to manage construction related activities including CAD file review, material procurement, quality assurance, field assembly training, engineering solutions, scheduling, and construction means and methods. We are looking for an innovative thinker that can bring solution based actions to help develop our product.

Role Objectives:

  1. Integrated Operations Mastery : Oversee plant operations, ensuring the Construction, Manufacturing, and Technology teams operate in harmony to produce high-quality products that reflect Lightspeed’s vision.
  2. Operational Leadership : Manage daily manufacturing processes and operations, delivering on and protecting timely production schedules and upholding the highest standards of product quality and efficiency.
  3. Regulatory Compliance : Stay current on local building codes, ensuring the team navigates and adheres to these guidelines efficiently.
  4. Continuous Improvement : Apply lean manufacturing principles, actively identifying and addressing areas for enhancement.
  5. Team Development : Attract, hire, and lead a top-tier production team, emphasizing a culture of excellence, collaboration, and forward-thinking innovation.
  6. Strategic Planning : Collaborate with senior leadership to strategize and execute plans for scalability, operational efficiency, and technology-driven advancements in production.

  8. Manage Third Party Consultants : Manage engineers to develop a modular floor and roof system for residential application. Manage SEMA software engineer to input building designs.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in modular/offsite construction plant management or high-level residential construction oversight, with a deep understanding of industry and local regulations.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across diverse teams.
  4. Familiarity with modern manufacturing techniques.
  5. Exceptional problem-solving and strategic decision-making skills.
  6. Experience with SEMA software a plus.
  7. Self-starter with ability to be a doer while we scale the business.
