Physician specializing in Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology to serve as a member of the Division of Medical Oncology, within the Department of Internal Medicine; conducts ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtains and reviews medical history of patients; performs physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs; performs relevant oncology procedures; orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; documents all services and instructions provided in medical record; educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families; directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities; serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology; ensures continuing medical education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.
James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute expanded in December 2014 to become the 3rd largest cancer hospital in the U.The extraordinary success of this new 398-bed  state-of-the-art hospital has resulted in remarkable clinical growth and has created several opportunities for medical oncologists across the spectrum of solid tumor subspecialties. The Ohio State University is currently seeking oncology physicians at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor rank for a variety of roles in the areas of basic and translational research, education, and inpatient and outpatient care. High priority searches at this time are those who desire to focus their research and patient care in  GI Oncology.
OSU GI Oncology Program Features:
~18 dedicated GI oncology focused physicians (9 medical oncologists, 5 surgical oncologists, and 4 radiation oncologists)
~ Physicians are supported by team of advanced practice providers, patient navigator, social worker, onsite clinical trial coordinators, and patient experience.
~ Clinics are located in stand-alone ambulatory clinic
~ Types of studies include Phase 1 to Phase III, NCI sponsored, pharmaceutical sponsored and Investigator-initiated trials.
~ Innovative therapies available for patients including first in human therapies, CAR-T cell therapy studies, and tissue banking.
~ Multi-disciplined Colorectal Cancer Center Program encompassing colorectal surgeons, medical oncology, genetics, hereditary, etc..
~ Pancreas Multidisciplinary Care Clinic

One of only four cancer centers funded by the NCI to conduct Phase I and II cancer clinical trials
Founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN)
Founding member of the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN)
Robust clinical trials program with active translational therapeutics that include a clinical research unit, Phase 1 U01 grant and N01 Phase II contract

5%: Ensures continuing medical education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.
5%: Serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology.
5%: Directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities.

Required Qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Completion of accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship. Candidates must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology, as well as able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
