Job Details
~ A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Day and Night ICU RN's.
~ Valid RN license in the US with clean record.
~12 hour shifts.
~2 years of unit experience.

Job Requirements
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation.
OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass.
Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated.
Department: ICU RN
BLS, ACLS, PALS. NIHSS, TNCC preferred
No Prescreen, will interview with manager
Experience or 'Must have' skills- ICU experience with experience in drips, vents, bipaps
Are RNs required to titrate drips? - Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips- vasopressors, sedation (levo, neo, cardene, precedex, propofol, etc)
Schedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling - 1830-0700. every third weekend
No self-scheduling. Cannot guarantee block scheduling.
A traveler is needed for high need shift.
Weekend Requirements- every third weekend
Holiday Requirements- 4th of July
No call or standby requirement
Floating Requirements- will float to PCU (progressive Care) if not needed in ICU
Unit Specific Information
~# of Beds- 16
~ Nurse:Patient Ratios- 2:1
~ Common diagnoses/Types of patients- Medical ICU- sepsis, resp failure, stroke, MI
~ How many years' experience required?- preferred 2 years
~ Previous travel experience required?- preferred
~ Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?- Yes
~ Does the charge nurse take an assignment?- Yes
~ Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?- No nurse aids
~ Are RNs required to read their own strips?- Monitor tech will read but nurse but be able to read and verify
~ What brand are the tele monitors?- draegers
~ How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation- 1 shift for ICU and 1 shift for pcu

Additional Details
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS required certifications.
RN's must pass an open book exam during orientation.
Must have strong ICU skills, including drips, vents, and bipaps.
Nurses may be required to manage ventilators and drips.
