LPN Ambulatory Care

The Floating Hospital welcomes individuals of all ages, from infants, school age children (5+), youth and adults.
Under the direct supervision of the Vaccine Administration Manager, the successful LPN selected for this role will administer vaccines to patients across the life span, with a heavy emphasis on pediatrics. Prior experience working in a hospital or physician's office preferred.
Reviews Medical Record for vaccination administration after receiving order from provider. Obtains correct vaccination(s) from refrigerator. Compares and confirms vaccination(s) and dose ordered to what was retrieved.
Disposes of medical waste and hazardous waste, as per OSHA guidelines and clinic protocols.
Documents vaccine type, manufacturer, lot number, and anatomical location of administration in the EHR.
Provides patient and/or guardian with most current Vaccination Information Sheet (VIS).
Reviews CIR, generates list of needed vaccines and provides completed list to Front Desk/Registration Staff for recalls.
Prepares a Clinical Inventory Sheet (CIS) of the monthly inventory of all vaccinations at assigned site.
At LIC site, stock medication cupboard will be checked monthly for any expired medications; Reports VFC expired or spoiled vaccines electronically in the CIR for each specific site, and coordinates packaging of spoiled vaccines for pickup by the delivering entity.
Follows and demonstrates strict infection control guidelines to ensure proper clinic environment.
Follows sharps policy and procedure and demonstrates understanding.
Participates with clinical staff for in-service training, to ensure that nursing staff functions meet quality improvement standards.
Implements recommendations from Quality Improvement Team and Infection Control Committee, as requested.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
