REMINDER: Current DCSD employees must apply through their district log-on, this application is for external candidates only Job Posting Title: School Nurse Consultant Job Description: A specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success, and lifelong achievement of students through removal of health related barriers and promotion of optimal wellness. Collaborates with all stakeholders in coordination of multi-tiered systems of support to ensure personalized care for every student. Develops and promotes good community relations among various district and community clientele. Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Responsibilities: * -- Assure student health information is protected in accordance with Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). * -- Participate in professional growth opportunities. * -- Participate in comprehensive health education programs and school health policy development. * -- Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building district, regional and state goals and priorities. * -- Assess the health of the school community and advocate for physical and emotional safety through collaboration with all stakeholders. * -- Identify students with health needs requiring modifications or accommodations in the school setting or during school sponsored events and activities. * -- Obtain and interpret student health data for special education assessments and 504 accommodation plans. * -- Participate as the health expert on the RTI, special education and 504 teams by mitigating health related obstacles to learning. * -- Develop a health care plan to meet students' individual health needs in the school setting. * -- Provide direct health services for the student when appropriate. * -- Develop lesson plans and/or outlines for identified health education needs. * -- Design disease prevention and health promotion strategies for the students and school staff. * -- Provide ongoing consultation services to staff members. * -- Use evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of intervention. * -- Ensure safe delegation of nursing interventions to unlicensed assistive personnel by adhering to the provisions of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act (CRS 12-38-101). Certifications: Registered Nurse License - Colorado, Special Services Provider License - School Nurse - Colorado Department of Education Education: Bachelor's Degree: Nursing (Required) Position Type: Regular Primary Location: Variable Location Employee One Year Only (Yes or No): No Scheduled Hours Per Week: 40 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.00 Approx Scheduled Days Per Year: 185 Work Days Full Salary Range: $61,535.00 USD - $128,547.00 USD Annual Position Salary Schedule Eligibility: Specialist/Extremely Hard to Hire Licensed position salaries are set based on one of three salary schedules; General, Hard to Hire, and Specialist/Extremely Hard to Hire. DCSD will award up to 7 years of previous licensed teaching experience at the time of hire. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
