Geddis Paving needs a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to join the team. This role will be critical in overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of construction vehicles and equipment. This is both a supervisory role (organizing, delegating, managing) and a wrench-in-hand role. We're almost done building a second property just a few miles down the road as well. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle and equipment repair, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the operational readiness of our construction fleet. We are specifically looking for experience with either Construction or Agricultural equipment, or something else extremely similar/directly transferable.
Hours per week can vary depending on the seasons and projects.
Off-hours emergencies are occasionally a thing, being available for the occasional night or weekend is a huge plus
Geddis maintains an entire fleet of paving, excavating, and utility installation equipment for major commercial, industrial, and public projects at the municipal, state, and federal levels.
Supervise, train, and provide daily guidance to a team of 2-4 mechanics.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with construction vehicles and equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, paving equipment, crushing equipment, and trucks.
Ensure routine maintenance and repairs are performed on all company vehicles and equipment.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work.
Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
Work is directed by the Shop Manager - Collaborate with Shop Manager and other company staff to coordinate maintenance and repair activities.
Ensure the workshop is clean, organized, and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment.
Ability to handle office admin tasks on tablet or laptop
technical degree or certification in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
Extensive knowledge of construction vehicles and heavy equipment.
Proficiency with mechanical tools and equipment.
CDL strongly preferred
Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions
