*Job Title: * Registered Dietitian - Adolescent Medicine and Nephrology
*General Summary: *Assures delivery of clinical Nutrition Care as assigned on a day-to-day basis. Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for assigned patients/clients. This involves the assessment of nutritional status and treatments including diet therapy, counseling and use of specialized nutritional supplements and support according to accepted standards of practice and UBMD Pediatrics policy.
*Essential Job Responsibilities:*
* As needed, develops and implements nutrition care plans incorporating current standards of medical nutrition therapy practice. Documents care plan in the medical record in a timely fashion.
* Monitors implementation of nutritional care plan, evaluates the effectiveness of care plan through follow-up, and adjusts plan as needed to ensure patient needs are met.
* Documents care provided in the medical record to assure continuity of care and communication with other health care professionals.
* Effectively counsels and instructs patients and their families in sound nutritional practices. This may be on a one on one basis or as group classes.
* Provides education training and assistance to staff, students and other personnel as appropriate to level of training and experience. Provides in-service education programs to staff members as requested.
* Uses appropriate computer systems and programs to obtain and record patient information, communicate with others and research current nutritional care practice information. Create, compile and produce reports when requested.
* Complies with all departmental policies, established guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. Keeps appropriate documentation, attends required continuing education programs, maintains a safe, clean, well-stocked and orderly work environment and performs other duties as directed by supervisor. May assist in training or orientation as required.
*Education/Licenses:* Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. Licensed Registered Dietitian
*Experience: *Must have at least two years of clinical work experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics, with experience in pediatrics and research is preferred.
*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutritional care, clinical dietetics and nutrition education.
* Maintain patient safety and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
* Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people of various educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
* Skill in interpreting and implementing diet recommendations.
* Understanding and treatment knowledge of, but not limited to, childhood obesity, eating disorders, adult weight management & weight loss surgery.
*Equipment Operated: *Standard medical exam/office equipment, which may include computerized health information management system for medical records, etc.
*Work Environment: *Medical exam and treatment rooms and medical offices. Environmental setting (lighting, temperature, air quality, and acoustics) controlled.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
