Epilepsy is a neurological condition involving the brain that makes people more susceptible to having recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Akron General runs an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a four-bed monitoring unit allowing epilepsy specialists to diagnose a seizure problem accurately and design the best possible treatment plan. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will work under the direction of the Director to provide nursing care in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice/Ohio Administrative Code and Understanding Scopes of Practice/Ohio Board of Nursing and ANA Scope and Standards of Care. RNs are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a given patient population within the established standards and practices of Akron General .
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
~ Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
~ Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
~ Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
~ Document in patients’ medical records.
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
~ New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience.
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
