Hours: full-time (37.5 hours per week), and part-time positions available

Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501

POSITION SUMMARY

The Psychiatrist - Child Services will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for child consumer population. They will create a plan of care and treatment, collaborating with other programs and portfolios as needed to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to those receiving services.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Licensure as a Board Certified General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist with minimum education as determined and required by the relevant licensing board or Board Eligible
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience providing psychiatric care to individuals with a mental health diagnosis
  • Board Certified General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist

RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments ; Knowledge of database systems and software, as well as, the best practices for effective utilization; Use database systems and software to efficiently and effectively meet documentation needs; Analyze situations accurately and develop appropriate responses or techniques; Communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team; Ability to develop reports, create presentations and communicate findings to both internal and external audiences; Ability to identify and measure outcomes; Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community; Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
