Position Highlights
Practice Focus : Engage in 80% obstetrical anesthesia or a mix of general and obstetrical anesthesia.
Clinical Setting : Serve at Froedtert Hospital and Froedtert Birth Center, a rapidly growing program with over 3,600 annual deliveries.
Excellence in Care : A SOAP (Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology) center of excellence.
Collaborative Environment : Partner with Anesthesiology Residents, Fellows, Medical Students, and Certified Anesthesiology Assistants.
Educational Role : Participate in the clinical education of new learners and provide lectures or other educational programs as requested.
Education, Training and Experience
- Completion of an anesthesiology residency from an ACGME accredited program
- Completion of an Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship preferred
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Wisconsin

Department of Anesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology at MCW includes 120 clinical faculty members, approximately 90 certified nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants, 10 active research faculty members, 66 residents and 17 fellows in pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, critical care, regional acute pain, and pain medicine. The Department anesthesiology team serves multiple sites both near the Froedtert and MCW campus, as well as several community sites and covers both ambulatory and in-patient services. Affiliated clinical sites include Froedtert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW), Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Community Memorial and West Bend Hospitals, and four ambulatory surgery centers in SE Wisconsin. Froedtert Birth Center
Froedtert Birth Center (FBC) is a high-risk pregnancy referral site. FBC located in Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin next to the Level IV NICU. FBC was recently awarded the SOAP Center of Excellence designation. It is an ACOG Level IV center. FBC has 3,400 deliveries per year with a 25% Cesarean section rate and an 85% rate of epidural labor analgesia. We have a multidisciplinary high-risk antenatal clinic that includes maternal fetal medicine, OB anesthesia, hematology, adult congenital heart disease, etc. The OB anesthesia division includes 6 core faculty (4 OB anesthesia fellowship trained and 2 fellowship equivalent), 6 OB anesthesia committed faculty, and 4 certified anesthesiologist assistants (CAA). We also have one OB anesthesia fellowship position.
