* Northside Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to join our growing surgical APP team. The team consists of 4 Cardiac Surgeons and 6 Cardiac Surgery PA's. Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest using the Maquet and or Terumo systems
* First assistant as needed: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, ECMO Insertion
* Conducts patient interviews and documents patient histories, psychosocial histories, health status and medical problems or potential problems.
* Under the direction of a physician, performs physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, aortic surgery, VATS, placement and management of chest tubes wound suturing and dressing changes.
* In collaboration with physician, arranges for consultations with or referrals to other medical professional or community services.
* Educates patient on health habits, self-examinations, behavior management, need for follow-up assessments/treatments, at home medical care, medication and other issues related to medical or health problems.
* Maintains and updates current, accurate patient records including medical assessment, interventions, and evaluations.
* Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients.
A college degree as a Physician's Assistant from a recognized university, affiliated with a medical school.
* Master's Degree in Nursing.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Surgery PA/Nurse Practitioner.
* Proficient in endoscopic vein harvest with Maquet and or Terumo systems.
Schedule/Call Rotation
* Daily, Weekend and Holiday On-Call assignments are split evenly amongst the 6 surgical PA's.
