Senior Legal Director, Government Contracts and IP – Washington D.C., San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles or New York City

Our client, an integrated family office serving the investments, activities and foundations of its founders and their family, is seeking to add a Senior Director, Government Contracts and IP to its legal team. The entities associated with our client employ over 500 employees, ranging from foundation staff, program managers, investment professionals, finance and accounting staff, property managers, pilots, sailors, scientists, and a diverse range of other individuals. Our client is the corporate manager and provider of centralized shared services for these entities and employees.

This Attorney will be responsible for representing and counseling the organization and its related entities on government contracts and disputes, including contracting options and strategy, negotiation, IP matters, bid protests, contract claims, investigations and disclosures, litigation and appeals.

Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and advise clients on government contracts and related IP and technology transactions concerning hardware and software
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including FAR and DFARS regulations
  • Conduct legal research on emerging issues and trends in government contracting and provide guidance to the company's contracting teams
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to government contracting activities
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal and contracts team and others within the organization’s related entities to ensure effective and efficient management of government contracts
  • Advise on mitigation of flow-down requirements to subcontracts
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license in good standing in the state in which you currently reside
  • Minimum 6 years experience as a Government Contracts Attorney
  • Minimum 6 years experience working with IP
  • Experience with procurement contracts
  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs)
  • Experience working with Federal government procurements
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage complex terms with internal corporate stakeholders
  • Ability to condense complex information into an easily understood format
  • Current or recent national security clearance is preferred; ability to possess an ACTIVE national security clearance may be required
  • Experience managing Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA) and contracts under Other Transaction Authority (OTA) is preferred
  • Experience working with military contracts is preferred
  • Experience working with autonomous vehicles is preferred

The current targeted base salary for this position ranges from $300K - $350K, plus a potential bonus. Actual compensation is determined based on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, years of directly relevant experience, and geographic location.
