When you are part of our team, you knowwhat connected feels like.#WhatConnectsYou#NMHSConnections Job Description Supervision: Coordinates work flow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area Serves as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in absence of supervisor or Lead MTDistribution and Transportation: Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimensSpecimen Handling & Processing: Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens. Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimensCommunication: Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customersCustomer Service Uses AIDET as applicable Attends CARES training. When necessary, assures proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers. Answers telephone in an polite and efficient mannerEmployee Relations: Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employeesReporting/Recordkeeping: Assures department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner Assists with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives Assures appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality controlEducation: Assists with training of students and new employees Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills Stays abreast of regulatory changesRegulation: Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statuesAdheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)standardsJob Knowledge: Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or related field; required ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required within 12 months after incumbents graduation form an accredited Medical Technology Program. NOTE: If ASCP certification has recently lapsed, employee will have 90 days to complete continuing education and recertification requirements. Valid Mississippi Drivers License and acceptable driving record/history; preferred Proficient skills with LIS; required Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; requiredKnowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required Requirements The following are requirements in addition to any stated in the above description.
