Assist physicians in performing nurse procedures for the comfort and well being of patients. This includes interviews, medical histories, injections, completing lab and other diagnostic requests, administering prescribed medications and simple treatment and education of the patient as directed by the physician or non physician provider. There will also be administrative duties outlined below.
Contributes to appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• collects and records data on patient condition including vital signs. Uses/manages equipment safely and appropriately, administers medications including injections and treatments within the scope of practice and training.
• Preparing exam/ treatment supplies and equipment and assisting MD/NP during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
• manages computer charting/ordering as appropriate; Responding to and screening telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
Manages Medical Records
• seeks assistance as necessary; collects data from multiple sources as necessary; organizes/delivers care for multiple patient assignment under the direction of and in collaboration with MD/NP.
Develops and maintains human care relationships.
• adapts care delivery for diverse populations and environments; provides care in ethical and legal manner; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean, orderly environment of care; requests assistance appropriately. Delegates as appropriate, to Licensed Nursing Assistant and or clerical support.
Incorporates teaching in delivery of care with a focus on heath promotion.
• Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient populations served within unit/area of hire.
• Provides age-specific care; applies knowledge of expected norms in provision of care.
• Responsible for infection control and disposition handling of infectious or hazardous material.
Administrative support for MD/NP and program
• Cleaning and restocking of rooms/office for supplies
• Maintaining stock up to date and monitoring and maintenance of medical equipment
• Controlling inventory and monitoring the use of supplies
Meets Parkland Medical Center standards related to:
• Patient Safety: reports actual or potential medical/health care errors, near-misses or other opportunities to improve patient safety. Participates in safety education, safety, quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Customer Service/Patient Centered Care: shows genuine concern, respect, and ability to communicate cordially with patients, visitors, physicians, and other employees; Attendance, punctuality, meetings - Participates in continuing education programs & mandatory education to maintain competence and gain additional skills & documents attendance. Annual absenteeism will not exceed HR standards, attends at least 50% of staff meetings, reads communications.
Identifies personal learning needs based on performance, sets goals for the next 12 months. graduate of an approved RN program;
Experience in an MD office
Computer literate
Preferred: Six months’ experience as an RN in Urology.
