The nursing staff is highly skilled in labor, postpartum and newborn assessment, and care. The Registered Nurse in the New Beginnings Family Birthing Units are responsible for providing individualized family centered care during the antepartum, intrapartum, & postpartum periods.

Luke's Labor and Delivery RN Internship Offers:
~​The Length of the internship program is Full Time competency-based and is tailored to each individual adult learner.
~ Cultivate Leadership, Team Building, & Conflict Management
~ Oriented to Couplet Care, Labor, Operating Room and Infant Resuscitation
~Ideal candidates for application to the St. Luke’s Labor and Delivery RN Internship Program are: 
~ Experienced RN's that have not worked in the Labor and Delivery setting

The Labor and Delivery RN Internship is conducted at various sites within the St. Luke’s University Health Network and is supervised by the Labor and Delivery RN Internship coordinator. Upon successful completion of the Labor and Delivery RN Internship Program, the intern will work in a St. Luke's Labor and Delivery Department where he/she will practice caring for patients across their lifespans.
​ The Maternal/Neonatal nurse is responsible for coordinating and providing individualized quality patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, documentation and evaluation.
Formulates collaborative and individualized plan of care and identifies expected patient outcomes, using the nursing process and patient birth plan.
Works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
