Many Languages One Voice (MLOV) fosters leadership and facilitates community-led initiatives to increase the meaningful inclusion and civic participation of immigrant residents of the District of Columbia. We support the leadership and amplify the voice of the most vulnerable to find solutions to the systemic inequities that impact their lives.

MLOV is a leading player in the immigrant rights and justice movement in DC and regularly builds partnerships and coalitions with wide-ranging stakeholders. As the convening organization of the DC Language Access Coalition (DCLAC), we serve as a partner in the monitoring and enforcement of the DC Language Access Act of 2004.

Youth Programming:
An after-school youth program for middle school and high school youth;
A summer program for middle school and high school youth;
A mentorship program for immigrant youth 15 - 24;
Parent/Adult Programming:
A digital literacy program for adults;
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Family Programs is an integral part of MLOV’s team. They are responsible for supervising and supporting staff who implement our Youth Programming, Parent Programming, and Worker Education programming. In partnership with our Executive Director, the Director of Family Programs will also shape our programming strategy, enhancement, and expansion.

Successful candidates for this role will possess a strong commitment and passion for community skill-building, education, and the advancement of immigrant communities. Experience managing community-based programs is essential for this role, as well as an understanding of inclusive programming, dedication to positive staff leadership and development, and experience working with immigrant populations. Fluency in a language in addition to English is also important for this role, with a preference for Spanish fluency.

The Director of Family Programs role is a full-time, hybrid, exempt position. Program Development and Management:
In partnership with the Executive Director, develop, implement, and supervise new and existing programs and services that are consistent with MLOV’s mission and that meet the needs of our constituents;
Support program managers in the creation or enhancement of administrative processes, development of curricula, and implementation of programming according to program goals;
Lead the procurement of training and workshops to support staff professional development;
Lead the development and execution of processes, policies, and systems that increase the program teams’ effectiveness and impact;
Cultivate new and existing relationships with partner organizations, with support from program staff and in partnership with the Executive Director;
In partnership with other staff and/or consultants, contribute to efforts to promote MLOV program initiatives internally and externally, such as: newsletters/e-blasts, MLOV’s website, and other media;

Staff and Program Supervision:
Supervise the family programs staff, including: Youth Program Manager, Youth Program Coordinator, Youth Instructor(s), Parent Leadership Program Manager, Parent Program Instructor(s), and Case Manager.
Support program staff’s leadership development, work planning, and activities;
Support the recruitment of staff, consultants, interns, and/or volunteers;
Supervise background checks for staff and volunteers who work directly with children and youth;

Collaborate on efforts to create new initiatives for all MLOV community members to develop their skills and knowledge base to understand systemic inequities and collectively define solutions in their communities;

Development and Grant Management:
Monitor grant spending and track program activities relative to grant deliverables;
Support the Executive Director and Grants Manager in developing grant proposals, reports, program-related materials;
Travel:
~ Occasional local (DC/DMV) travel to work meetings (2 - 6 times per month), and occasional regional and national travel (1 - 2 times per year), is required, including to partner national conferences;


At least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
Experience managing cohort-based community programs, such as: leadership development programming, youth programming, digital literacy programming, or workforce development programming, with a preference for experience in youth programming.
Experience working with immigrant and low-income communities, and an understanding of the issues impacting community members;
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills and ability to work with diverse communities;
Ability to problem solve, find and utilize resources, and be flexible and adaptable;
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a high level of cultural competence;
Proficiency in writing/reading and speaking/understanding another language in addition to English, with a preference for Spanish fluency.
Ability to work on-site in DC, with availability to work evenings approximately twice per week, and occasionally weekends (approximately once every other month);
