Christiana Hospital is designated by the state of Delaware and verified by the American College of Surgeons as the state's only Level I trauma center for adults in Delaware. This is the highest capability possible for a trauma center. Wilmington Hospital's Emergency Department is a 37 bed Emergency Department, housing a Level 3 Trauma Center and is equipped with a helipad. This ED is a winner of the ENA Lantern Award. As an integral part of Delaware's trauma system, ChristianaCare provides statewide leadership and assistance with trauma response, strategic planning and education. ChristianaCare's trauma program collaborates with state and private emergency-management personnel throughout Delaware to ensure that every injured person receives the same high-quality care and best possible chance for recovery. Our ED nurses care for patients experiencing medical, cardiac and trauma related emergencies.
