Safely performs designated nursing procedures and other measures per competency management process while following appropriate policies.
Administers and records routine medications following appropriate standards of care.
Assists in monitoring controlled substances.
Assists with hygiene, nourishment (feeding and enteral feedings), and related personal care for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients.
Performs venipuncture to administer fluids, medicine, blood and/or withdraw blood.
Provides input into the patient care plan including discharge planning; coordinates care with professional and support staff.
Establishes and maintains communications with the health care team, patient, and family.
Accesses and enters information on administration of medicines, technical and physical observations of patients in accordance with hospital guidelines.
May assist with research projects.
As necessary, assists with admission, transfer and discharge of patients, fluid intake and output and appropriate recording, collection of urine, stool and sputum specimens.
Operates specialized medical equipment common to assigned work area.
Assists in maintaining equipment and related supplies.
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
A minimum of two years patient care experience preferred (within the last 5 years).
Computer skills preferred.
Current BLS (CPR) Healthcare provider certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments.
20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Patient care/handling injuries; Shift work; Travel may be required; Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators; 72/hour, The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications of relevant experience, skills, performance and internal equity.
