Position Overview: The Field Service Technician will be responsible for technical and customer support and provide on-site installation supervision, maintenance, and repair assistance on our complete line of BMP High-Speed Doors and Salco Industrial Doors. The position will work out of our office in Arlington Heights, IL, and travel will be 30-50%.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and customer support on our complete line of BMP High-Speed Doors and Salco Industrial Doors.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Supervise installs, assist in maintenance inquiries, and aid in the repair of products at customers’ sites.
  • Maintain a high degree of professional customer service for all interactions.
  • Proactively communicate with customers to keep them updated on the status of open issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Provide training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of our products.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with end-users and distributors.
  • Generate accurate and timely reports documenting site visits, work performed, and parts used within our CRM software.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product changes and updates.
  • Keep accurate records of travel expenses and turn them in on a timely basis.
  • Travel as needed to support our areas of customer responsibilities.
  • Participate in after-hours / weekend work as needed.
  • Attend shows and exhibitions, if required, as technical support.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Good listener with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Associate’s degree, certification, trade school diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation/Automotive.
  • High school diploma.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on electromechanical experience.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams, a voltmeter, and knowledge of PLCs.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to collaborate effectively with people.
  • Self-driven with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in MS Office suite.

Other desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of industrial controls.
