Responsibilities

Experience the kind of internship that will change lives... the lives of troubled youth, their families, and your own. Youth Villages' commitment to helping troubled children and their families find success spans more than 30 years and includes a comprehensive array of programs and services including:

  • Home-Based Counseling (Intercept)
  • LifeSet Transitional Living Services

Intern placement with a specific program within each office is determined during the interview process and depends on the current availability, the student's experience and education level, and the academic requirements of the program.

At the Master's level, graduate students will have the opportunity to:

  • Shadow counselors
  • Assist with clinical assessments and documentation
  • Learn our medical records system
  • Participate in treatment team and consultation meetings as well as receive individual supervision
  • Carry a case or assist a counselor with implementing family, individual or group therapy

At the Bachelor's level, junior or senior level students will have the opportunity to:

  • Shadow counselors
  • Assist with clinical assessments and documentation
  • Learn our medical records system
  • Participate in treatment team and consultation meetings

Our programs use treatment models that have been proven effective including:

  • Multisystemic Therapy
  • Multidimensional Foster Care
  • Re-ED
  • Family Treatment Model

Our approach has been very successful. Today, more than 3,000 counselors, teachers, and skilled support staff provide Youth Villages' services in 73 locations throughout Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, North Carolina, Oregon, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Louisiana and Ohio. Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in the Social Service field
  • Must be at least 21 years old OR entering junior or senior year in college
