This role is crucial for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety and quality and for maintaining compliance with CDPH regulations and SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.


The HACCP Responsible oversees the creation, implementation, training, communication, follow-up, review, and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan of the company.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage the Food Safety plan in accordance with Codex guidelines, SQF requirements, and industry best practices.


Conduct regular hazard analyses to identify potential food safety risks and establish control measures.


Monitor, validate, and verify the effectiveness of the Food Safety plan, making adjustments as necessary.


Train and supervise staff on HACCP principles, food safety practices, and compliance requirements.


Coordinate and lead internal audits to ensure adherence to Food Safety and SQF protocols.


Act as the primary point of contact for CDPH inspectors and manage SQF audits, including preparation and response.


Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all Food Safety - related activities and audits.


Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to food safety and quality across the facility.


Stay updated with changes in food safety regulations and industry standards, implementing necessary changes in the Food Safety plan.


Address and resolve any food safety concerns or non-compliances identified during inspections or audits.



Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, or a related field.


Certification in HACCP and a thorough understanding of the regulations applicable to the processing of ice cream and SQF standards.


Certification in internal auditing is desirable.


Certification as SQF practitioner is desirable.


Minimum of 2 years' experience in a food safety role, preferably in the dairy processing or in an SQF certified facility.


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to conduct detailed hazard analyses.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and lead a team.


Proficient in record-keeping and documentation related to food safety and HACCP compliance.


Ability to work collaboratively and effectively under pressure, especially during audits and inspections.


Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to food safety and quality assurance.
