The HR Talent Partner will work with department leaders to identify staffing needs and source candidates who can contribute to the company's success. This role will help team members and leaders to create career paths and technical development opportunities that support team member growth and the company's apprenticeship program success. This team member will look for and build candidate pools in the community with schools, technical centers, colleges, and other local organizations for a long-term strategy to source candidates before introducing them to hiring managers. This team member will be trusted by new hires and current staff as they support team member experience programs that improve retention and reduce turnover.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Recruiting and Talent Management

  • Be the main point of contact for people who want to join the team or work on a temporary contract basis.
  • Know each department’s culture, job specific requirements, and prioritize talent acquisition according to organization needs.
  • Evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of applicants in all areas of the business with speed and accuracy, and match candidates' skill sets with the different needs of the organization.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to schedule interviews, ensure they are prepared to fairly assess, interview, and make decisions about candidates fairly.
  • Choose competent applicants who can fulfill the responsibilities of the positions they are selected for and recognize career possibilities and a plan to reach them.
  • Be the administrator of the Veryable, flexible scheduling program for contract workers.
  • Be the liaison for temporary agencies and trial to hire team members to support their journey towards permanent employment.
  • Keep Metal Flow’s open position list updated internally and externally. Report progress regularly.
  • Use social media and other platforms in a creative way to promote the Metal Flow brand, training programs and job openings.
  • Use different methods such as websites, applicant tracking systems, social media, job fairs, and work with community education partners, etc., to recruit candidates actively for open positions.
  • Communicate with all internal applicants who were interviewed about their application and the reasons they were, or were not, hired for a position. Hold debriefing meetings with internal candidates to revisit career goals and point out career growth options beyond a role they were not offered.
  • Give advice on succession planning and internal job movements/promotions.
  • Keep up with current and future trends to become a proactive recruiter. Explore and evaluate various ways of talent acquisition to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other Metal Flow team members to create a community presence that showcases and encourages school-aged kids to learn the skill of deep draw and the benefits of a career in the Toolmaker skilled trade.
  • Host group tours for students and share career opportunities in the manufacturing industry at Metal Flow.
  • Collaborate with each department to learn about and enhance the onboarding process for new employees following the HR orientation.
  • Act as a link between team members and 3rd party trainers and assist with any grant requirements.
  • Coordinate an internship program by working with leaders to provide an excellent experience for students.

Training Program Management

  • Update and manage the Metal Flow training calendar. Partner with leaders to understand skill gaps and secure additional training resources for additional class opportunities.
  • Serve as an important member of the Apprenticeship Steering Committee.
  • Partner with leaders to identify high potential team members who may be successful in an apprenticeship program. Facilitate discussions related to career development and interest.
  • Oversee the internal application process for the apprenticeship programs and invite desired candidates to apply. Coordinate any assessments, job shadowing and group interviews.
  • Partner with technical trainers/mentors to ensure that apprentices are properly progressing in the program and acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to successfully grow towards being a technical expert.
  • Perform the administrative function (i.e. hour recording, education results recording, and Eyelet Training Series progress) for the programs.
  • Record all related data in the Department of Labor database and complete any program related compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the members of the steering committee to encourage apprentices towards completion of the program.
  • Market the Metal Flow tuition reimbursement program and highlight the advantages of the program to increase participation and retention.
  • Partner with local organizations to offer co-op programs and entry roles to candidates seeking an opportunity to join the Metal Flow team and pursue an apprenticeship.
  • Partner with colleges to offer internship opportunities that benefit the continued education of individuals and the project goals of the department.
  • Speak at local events and participate in working groups to market the Metal Flow brand, tuition support, and growth opportunities.

Additional Administrative Responsibilities

  • with vendors to carry out the pre-employment process with candidates including but not limited to, post offer drug screen/physicals, background checks, verification of certifications/licenses, and verify employment eligibility.
  • any required reference checks.
  • with all state and federal regulations and labor laws in performing job duties.
  • the offer extension process by working with leadership who want to hire new team members after a successful screening process.
  • documents either physical or electronic to create new hire files to ensure all requirements are met by the hire date.
  • team members in a variety of ways including the oversight of the supersign, social media, etc.
  • as an additional host for new hire orientation and stay updated and familiar with materials presented to new team members.


Team member Retention Strategy

  • Keep track of team member progression; orientation, continuous support/job satisfaction, team member engagement, and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Oversee team member engagement survey process and work alongside HR Manager to create action items based on team member feedback.
  • Develop team member engagement opportunities by proposing recognition programs and events.
  • Conduct onboarding follow-ups, retention interviews, and departure interviews and report results.
  • Gather data during candidate interviews and network opportunities to identify ways for Metal Flow to be competitive in the market with both pay and non-monetary benefits in the area.


Other Opportunities

  1. Participate in and/or own other projects, tasks, and responsibilities as defined by the HR Manager.
  2. Participate in additional training, refinement of skills, or preparation for advancement.
  3. Participate in local HR groups, including Inforum, ManufacturingNEXT, Talent First, TEA, etc.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Communications, Psychology or a related field required
  • PHR/SPHR certification optional.
  • Three or more years of professional recruiting experience preferred.
  • At least three years of coordinating talent development activities.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and HR practices required.
  • Experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.
