About the Role:

As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our client's Unix-based systems and servers. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation, security, and reliability of their critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Installation and Configuration:

    • Installing and configuring Unix operating systems and software applications.
    • Setting up new servers and ensuring they are integrated into the existing network.
  2. System Maintenance and Updates:

    • Applying patches, updates, and upgrades to keep the system secure and up-to-date.
    • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
  3. User Management:

    • Managing user accounts and permissions.
    • Ensuring appropriate access controls and security measures are in place.
  4. Backup and Recovery:

    • Setting up and managing backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
    • Developing and testing disaster recovery plans.
  5. Security Management:

    • Implementing and maintaining security policies and procedures.
    • Monitoring system logs for security breaches and responding to incidents.
  6. Network Configuration:

    • Configuring network services such as DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
    • Ensuring network connectivity and troubleshooting network-related issues.
  7. Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

    • Monitoring system performance using tools and scripts.
    • Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  8. Scripting and Automation:

    • Writing and maintaining scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
    • Using tools like cron for scheduling automated jobs.
  9. Documentation:

    • Maintaining documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
    • Keeping records of changes and updates to the systems.
  10. Support and Troubleshooting:

    • Providing technical support to users and resolving system-related issues.
    • Diagnosing and fixing hardware and software problems.
