The Role
Have you ever considered a career that exposes you to how money is invested all over the world? Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations performs accounting, money movement, pricing and other services supporting portfolio managers who invest our client's money in Fidelity s mutual funds.
Our job is to ensure that all those investments are accounted for and accurately reconciled between the banks and our accounting records. It s as simple as balancing a checkbook but with trillions of dollars, millions of transactions and dozens of banks and different systems Every day we have thousands of accounting breaks to research and resolve. Currently, we are still working mostly from home. Recon operations is suited for those that enjoy having a regular, daily routine.
The analyst role is an advanced operations role, where it is expected that some background in investment operations is brought to bear on tough accounting processes. The expectation is that they will excel at working independently on accounting challenges and propose ideas on making the process better. We believe mobility is positive and will dedicate time for coaching and personal development. Analysts will be exposed to the management function, team dynamics and how to influence and make change.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
To be an analyst in reconciliations there are some basics that are required:
- A\u00A0Bachelor s Degree\u00A0is required. Quantitative backgrounds are ideal such as finance or business.
- 2+ years experience in accounting, reconciliations or investment operations.
- Communicate ready knowledge of\u00A0accounting, investment operations, and reconciliations.
- Analysts set the tone.\u00A0Clear and professional communications\u00A0are essential.
- Problem solving is key. Demonstrate\u00A0critical thinking skills\u00A0and an ability to dig deep to find answers.
- Analysts work on complex exceptions and must be constantly\u00A0learning and forming new skills.
- They must show a desire to\u00A0lead and\u00A0assist others.
The Team
Thousands of associates work at our breathtaking Westlake, TX office. They enjoy unique culinary experiences at the cafe, biking or walking on the trails, and using onsite amenities such as the gym, concierge and clinic.
We have several small teams in our division. Each team focuses on a different part of the investment operation, such as reconciliations, corporate actions, or tax reclaims. The Recon teams have 8-10 associates apiece and 2-3 new associates each year. They work every day with global banks and partner teams in Ireland and New England. Each team is a different entry point into the world of securities and investment management. These teams are complementary working together to resolve complex accounting and investment problems.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
