Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator

We are especially excited about the new Youth Group we are starting. The Children and Youth Ministries Coordinator would be directly involved in the development of curriculum and managing staffing for this Sunday morning program. This position works closely with the Associate Pastor in every capacity.


This is a hybrid position with a requirement to be onsite at the church on Sundays and one other day a week.


Responsibilities

1.  Communications

  • Keep families up to date on events and activities with weekly emails


2.  Weekly Spiritual Formation

  • Recruiting teachers and assistants for weekly Sunday classes
  • Selecting and ordering curriculum
  • Recruiting and training teachers
  • Scheduling teachers and sending email reminders about teaching responsibilities
  • Helping teachers, as needed, to plan and implement lessons and activities


3.  VBS

  • Select curriculum and purchase materials with the support of the Associate Pastor
  • Recruit, train and plan with volunteers
  • Coordinate with all involved in implementing the VBS program
  • Registering children to be part of the VBS program


4.  Advent/Christmas

  • Organize, recruit and purchase materials for the Advent Workshop
  • Assist as needed with the Christmas Pageant


5.  Waffle Church

  • Recruit and coordinate breakfast crew
  • Assist, as needed, in the planning and implementing of the worship


6.  Youth

  • Help with the organization and implementation of a Youth Group program
  • Encourage youth to attend camps and Tapestry activities


7.  Teamwork

  • Attend monthly Education and Leadership meetings
  • Attend meetings with Associate Pastor and with the church staff as needed
  • Keep the resource room cleaned up and organized


Work 15 hours per week at $22- $26/hour depending on experience. 

Supervisors:  Directly reports to the Interim Associate Pastor Ruth Schmidt, and Head of Staff, Pastor Karen Sapio


Qualifications

  • Detail oriented and extremely organized
  • Some college preferred
  • Ability to manage a large volunteer base
  • Patience, friendliness, and a creative imagination
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Proficiency with Google Docs or Microsoft Word
  • If not already done, a Live Scan Background Check and job related training is required.
