The Assistant Production Manager leads night shift bakery operations directly, and through subordinates in production, maintenance, quality, and sanitation to achieve safety, quality, efficiency goals. This position is accountable for the nightly operations of the production departments.


Responsibilities:

  • Execute plant-specific vision and mission to assure continuous improvement and alignment with the company’s vision for the production department.
  • Direct and oversee production supervisors and their roles and responsibilities throughout the night.
  • Drives employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
  • Effectively communicate results and action plans to all employees and managers.
  • Ability to fill role of the production manager for short term absence.
  • Cover night shift supervisor vacancies.
  • Collaborates directly with production planning and materials management to optimize scheduled attainment and customer service.
  • Collaborate directly with human resources to ensure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
  • Initiate cost savings measures relating to crewing, standards and yields.
  • Ensure all plant operations and business is conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications, and policies are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborates with R&D in product development and implementation of plant trials.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years related Baking and food Manufacturing experience
  • Analysis skills for problem solving and decision making
  • Superior communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Problem solving skills using tools such as FMECA’s, RCA’s, and SPC
  • Social skills and etiquette for dining, travel, and meetings
  • Basic mathematical and statistical skills



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift 25 pounds and walk through a manufacturing plant on hard surfaces and climb stairs. The assistant production manager is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
