Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join their Infrastructure Operations team, with a strong focus on mainframe systems performance and capacity management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing system resources, and ensuring optimal application performance across their mainframe environment.

  • Conduct performance and capacity analysis, employing various monitoring tools and techniques to identify root causes of performance issues.
  • Collaborate with the mainframe management team to assess and address performance concerns, capacity planning, and workload management.
  • Monitor end-to-end performance of customer-facing applications that interact with the mainframe backend database (DB2).
  • Leverage expertise in IBM Workload Manager (WLM), CICS, DB2, and MQ to optimize resource allocation and application performance.
  • Analyze performance data, apply critical thinking, and provide recommendations for system optimization and tuning.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of mainframe applications, day-to-day activities, and their impact on performance.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and coordinate updates with project teams.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand application configurations and identify performance issues.
