Performs Mainframe development and systems analysis, using COBOL, SQL, and INFORMATICA. Develops and maintains Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and develops the standard language for mainframe applications -- COBOL. Develops and authors solutions requirements, user stories, and specifications for moderate to complex software systems. Executes systems analysis for medium-sized projects. Performs analysis for large, complex projects. Documents requirements and creates specifications -- makes design recommendations for medium-sized projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with business partners and technology partners to identify, review, define, interpret, and clarify scope of work in terms of business and/or system requirements and processes.

  • Contributes to the analysis strategy for technology projects culminating in the creation of documentation to support project needs.

  • Recommends changes to existing systems design to achieve requirements and recommends designs for new systems based on requirements.

  • Documents objectives, use cases, requirements, and specifications.

  • Monitors documentation standards and best practices.

  • Recommends traceability improvements.

  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope and works on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Works directly with the user community for project definition.

  • Communicates project plan information, objectives, and deliverables to the team.

  • Works on complex assignments and on multiple phases of a project.

  • Assists in defining analysis strategy.

  • Writes business cases for review.

  • Identifies and records risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions in accordance with project standards.

  • Participates in the review and validation of Quality Assurance test plans to ensure requirements have been met.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining COBOL for mainframe applications, and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to deliver digital experience in the financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining COBOL for mainframe applications, and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to deliver digital experience in the financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (\u201CDE\u201D) assigning and implementing peer review and unit test checklists; and collaborating with business and technology partners to prioritize project tasks in backlog to monitor the Scrum board within the Agile Scrum framework using Jira.

  • DE performing mainframe application development, test automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), MQ-Series, Syncsort, Easytrieve, Endevor, Control-M, Intertest, File-Aid, CA-DB2, and Strobe for DB2 plan queries, performance monitoring, tuning, and debugging to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, and MIPs.

  • DE executing SQL queries on Oracle and Mainframe DB2 platform to extract and validate data using the Informatica Power Center and Adeptia for the downstream use by Mainframe applications; extracting data from data stores and flat files, and loading the data into relational database environments DB2 and SQL Server; copying data to reports relation databases using Informatica; and performing database releases according to Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices using Service Now.

  • DE executing systems analysis for complex projects, documenting requirements and creating specifications; making design recommendations; documenting objectives -- use cases; diagraming business processes and system workflows using MS Visio; documenting specifications and developing solutions to meet requirements; collaborating with business partners to understand project objectives and requirements; participating in implementation of change management processes; and recommending traceability improvements.
