We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our team as an Attendance Recovery and SOAR Teacher. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting students who have struggled with attendance, helping them catch up on missed work, and reintegrate back into the classroom. Additionally, you will implement and facilitate the SOAR ( S how Resilience, O ffer Kindness, A ct with Honor, and R espond with Courage) program, which is built upon restorative practices as an alternative to suspensions.Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted support and instruction to students participating in the Attendance Recovery program. Develop and implement individualized plans to help students catch up on missed coursework and improve attendance. Monitor and track student progress, maintaining detailed records and providing feedback to students, parents, and school administrators. Facilitate the SOAR program, focusing on restorative practices to address behavioral issues and promote a positive school environment. Conduct restorative circles, mediation sessions, and other restorative practices to resolve conflicts and reduce the need for suspensions. Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support and success. Participate in professional development and training related to restorative practices and attendance recovery strategies. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.Classroom Teacher
This position requires a valid South Dakota teaching certification.

Interested in becoming a contract teacher but don't hold a traditional teaching degree?
The South Dakota Department of Education offers an Alternative Certification program Individuals will take 15-credits plus praxis exams while they perform their duties as a contract teacher for a South Dakota school district. Alternative Certification is available for most positions 5th grade through high school. Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree, unless pursuing a CTE Instructor position.
