COTY is looking for smart leaders who are fast and passionate.

 

We are currently looking for a Sr. Scientist to join our Lip R&D team who has strong technical skills in color cosmetics and is able to provide technical solutions that address consumer tensions. The team member will work closely with their manager to support product development by designing & developing new chassis, shades and innovative textures.

 

THE ROLE

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Develop formulas and on trend shades that deliver superior consumer performance on time while providing regular updates to manager.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, follow R&D procedures, and document development and experimental results.
  • Test and document formula or integrated product performance and stability results to implement optimization.
  • Work across R&D disciplines (process, analytical, packaging, regulatory, safety, etc..) to enable projects and assist teams in root cause of issues.
  • Interact with raw material vendors and other industry representatives to enable formula development that meets consumer and business needs.
  • Technical standard development and specifications on time.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, safety, and GMP.
  • Responsible for end-to-end development including technical briefs, communication across functional teams, experimental design and establishing validation plans.
  • Define formula based critical technical parameters to deliver the consumer performance with an in depth understanding of the chemistry and ingredient functions.
  • Has the ability to make technically sound decisions based on data and consumer insights.
  • Able to analyze data to draw conclusions and risk assessments.

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

 

We’d love to see candidates who have:

 

Essential:

 

  • Minimum 7 years of technical experience in a relevant discipline such as personal care and/or colour cosmetics.; 5 years with masters.
  • Demonstrates broad and in-depth knowledge of raw materials, formulation technology (Pigments, polymers) that can be applied to color cosmetic and skin care formulations.
  • Good ability to perform DOE, modelling & testing, risk analysis, formulation technology road mapping for pipeline management and ROI.
  • Experience and strength in collaboration with both internal (including Marketing, Procurement and Manufacturing) and external stakeholders (including suppliers).
  • Performs good experimental execution, data collection, and documentation.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Innovative and creative thinker who can work independently.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an innate curiosity.
  •  Passion for beauty with a general understanding of color products.
  • Ability to collaborate and evolve in a fast-paced matrix environment.

 

Physical Demands/Requirements

 

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to assigned regions - domestic and internationally.
  • Ability to routinely follow policies and procedure related to company practices and safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment and/or machinery.

 

Description of Work Environment/Conditions

 

  • Ability to perform assigned work hours and work periodic overtime in order to meet the job responsibilities of the role.
  • Individual will be exposed to working in or around a lab environment with various equipment, machinery and chemicals. Safety precautions must be adhered to and followed at all times.
