Victaulic is a leading fire protection manufacturer of innovative fire products and fire fighting systems including fire sprinklers, fire extinguishing and fire suppression systems, pipe couplings and fittings, and flow control valves. These products are used in commercial, infrastructure and industrial applications to protect people and property. Scope: The Director of Global Quality has overall responsibility for the Quality organization and the Quality Management System (QMS). They are responsible for developing, maintaining, and continually improving an efficient and effective QMS to ensure the quality and reliability of Victaulic products and services. The goal of this position is to assure our customers receive a product or service which consistently meets or exceeds their expectations and to reinforce their belief that Victaulic products provide the best value in our industry. Global Quality Assurance will be organized in 3 distinct areas to focus on prevention and elimination of errors and defects in: Product Development and Qualification, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing Quality Assurance and Process Control. RESPONSIBILITIES : Development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Victaulic’s global Quality Management System. Global compliance of the company’s QMS to maintain ISO 9001-2015 certification. In partnership with Engineering and Product Development, responsible for supporting reliability and quality aspects of Victaulic’s new product development process. Focus on integrating tools, techniques, and methodologies of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) in new product development programs – with a particular emphasis on: Past product performance analysis to establish benchmark metrics. Product reliability analysis in support of the prototype and final design development process. FMEAs for considering design, assembly, manufacture, and installation for new product introductions. Process Capability studies and CpK analysis to assess production readiness for new product development programs. Incorporation of control plans as an integral part of defining product and process characteristics. Development of globally uniform, processor-friendly specifications. In partnership with the global Supply Chain and Operations organizations, support and collaborate with leadership to continuously improve both supplier quality and manufacturing quality development and qualification processes. Develop rigorous metrics for Cost of Quality (COQ). Standardize quality reporting metrics globally to the critical few metrics that can be rolled up to look at the health of our process on a corporate level. Engage plant managers and purchasing managers in a periodic review of their Quality performance, focusing on localized ownership of the metrics and the related continuous improvement process. Global management and performance of Victaulic’s customer complaint and response system - Product Evaluation Request (PER) procedure, and Corrective Action procedures. Engage our global quality community in regularly scheduled Quality Summits, to address key objectives and initiatives in support of our business plan in strategic areas. Staffing and employee development to continuously improve expertise and competency of the global quality assurance organization. Introduction of new technologies in quality assurance and quality control processes. Participation in various external organizations and committees to further quality assurance and company objectives. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related science. Advanced degree in an area of science, engineering or management is desirable. 15 years direct experience in Quality Assurance and ISO 9000. Manufacturing management and continuous improvement experience highly desired, Senior management preferred. Demonstrated record of success developing and implementing quality management systems in a Global organization. Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of lean tools and methodologies including Value Stream mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, 5S/Visual Management. Familiarity with statistical techniques with demonstrated use in process improvement. Six sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certifications a plus. Trained in problem solving, team facilitation, and root cause analysis mandatory. Demonstrated teamwork and communications skills necessary. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills promoting teamwork and a positive work environment. Ability to work all levels from the production floor to the executive office. Minimum of 10 years of Management / Supervisor experience. REPORTING: All corporate quality assurance personnel report to this position directly and via a Corporate/Global Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager. EEO Statement:
