Summary
TheDirector of Nursing's (DON) duties[DP1]will include all Nurse Manager duties in addition to the following:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for thecoordination and delivery of quality nursing care in accordance with the rulesand regulations of the Department of Health. The Director of Nursing will haveoversight and supervision of nursing staff and general medical concernsthroughout the campus, be available 24/7 and ensure adequate staffing.
This position facilitates the execution anddelivery of strategic goals and best practices, enhancing nursing careservices, improving clinical quality and safety, process/performanceimprovement, developing nursing teams, and ensuring successful recruitment,retention and succession for nursing, medical assistants, and direct careprofessionals. This position monitorsand oversees compliance of customer service, stakeholder relations, workforce,and financial goals and objectives as developed by the Board of Directors andExecutive leadership. This position isresponsible for serving as a role model to staff across the system andrepresenting Phoenix House in a positive manner both within and outside theorganization.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities
§Assess eachpatient's individual needs based on assessment and data collection to ensureproper admission.
§Implementdoctor's orders, administer specified medication, monitor and record vitalsigns, and maintain medical/ nursing records.
§Maintain current licensure and/orcredentialing. Maintain CPR/FAcertifications and MOAB annual training.
§Utilizeelectronic medical record (EHR)[DP2]effectivelyand efficiently.
§Workcollaboratively with Recovery Support Specialists and guide medicalinterventions, if needed. Observe patients and document their responses totreatment.
§Communicate withall staff on a regular basis regarding patient's progress and treatment plans.
§Admit patientsper the admissions criteria.
§Perform client screening, intake, orientation,and assessment functions necessary to complete admission.
§Assist inurgent/emergent situations.
§Follow allCOVID-19 procedures.
§Attend meetingsand training sessions as assigned.
§Dischargepatients in accordance with established policy.
§Carry outadministrative procedures in accordance with program and PHNE policies andprocedures.
§Perform clientscreening, intake, orientation, and assessment functions necessary to completeadmission.
§Consistentlyenforce rules and programmatic procedures.
§Ensure client confidentiality in accordancewith all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
§Maintain RELIAS [DP3]Learningrequirements and DATIS files.
§Perform otherduties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President or other Senior Executive.This is not intended to be a complete list of all duties and expectations.
§Provide nursingcare to patients as necessary.
§Provide shiftcoverage when necessary.
§Providesupervision and guidance of all nursing staff in accordance with organizationpolicy.
§Ensure nursingservices comply with internal, local, state and federal policies andregulations.
§Develop andcoordinate orientation and training programs for nurses.
§Coordination ofCPR/FA training for all Exeter Center Staff.
§Oversee/monitor/QualityImprovement all nursing/medical processes for residential programming.
§Oversee allTemporary Disability/Family medical Leave of Absence[DP4]paperwork for all clients.
§Maintainmedication and medical stock of all units.
§Along withDirector of Nursing, perform retrospective audits on all medical charts.
§Responsible formanaging and maintaining all schedules and coordination of callouts.
§Oversee medicalinterventions throughout the campus.
§Responsible formanaging and maintaining all nursing and recovery support schedules andcoordination of callouts.
§Has 24 hour a day/seven days a weekresponsibility, and is available for, nursing services, emergencies, staffsupport and patient crisis.
§Demonstratessupport for and models teamwork by personally working cooperatively with peersand subordinates towards the achievement of system wide goals andobjectives. Publicly recognizes andencourages intra and inter-departmental team efforts and accomplishments.
§Develop andcoordinate orientation and training programs for medical and non-medical staff.
§Along withDirector of Nursing, provide support to providers to enhance compliance with CPT[DP5]coding/billing/documentation. Including training support for the electronicmedical record.
§Order andmaintain medical supplies and medications.
§Oversee nursing and related disciplines'documentation, quality improvement[DP6],including retrospective chart audits, and utilization review processcompliance.
§Oversee medicalinterventions throughout the campus.
§Assist in thedevelopment of new policies and procedures.
§Holds staffaccountable for achieving goals and performance targets. Works with them to identify and resolve themost complex issues and problems affecting initiatives and operations.
§Coordination ofCPR/FA training for all staff.
§Develops staff toensure continued professional growth and to provide the competencies thecompany needs to support its growth and long-term success. Articulates and demonstrates an expectationfor continuous quality improvement utilizing processes that include considerationof all stakeholders. Fosters anenvironment that focuses on processes and outcomes
§Responsible forcompleting and submitting any medical or nursing incident reports per the PHNEprocedure.
§Provide supportto providers to enhance compliance with CPT [DP7]coding/billing/documentation.Including training support for electronic medical record.
§Supportseffective budgeting and capital planning in conjunction with financialmanagement to ensure planned revenues, expenses, and/or overall financial goalsare met.
§Coordinate withother program areas/leaders and senior management as appropriate according tothe organizational structure.
§As requested,prepares reports and analysis showing progress and adverse trends withappropriate recommendations or conclusions.
§Develop andmaintain effective organization of responsibility, including efficientrecruiting, training, coaching, recognition, workflow patterns, performancestandards, delineation of duties and responsibilities, staffing levels andsupervision
§Listens andresponds to stakeholder concerns; provides leadership in resolving stakeholderconflicts and disagreements.
§Works effectivelyin collaboration with physician leadership partners and all members of thesenior leadership team.
§Challenges andinspires all colleagues to constantly achieve higher levels of care, safety,customer service, and financial performance
§Responsible for managing and maintaining allnursing schedules and coordination of callouts or overseeing designee in thiscapacity.
§Ensure all significant medical incidents arereported according to organizational/State policies and regulations.
§Work effectively and in partnership with alldepartments and as part of the Leadership Team to help ensure appropriatecoordination between medical, administrative, and clinical services to patientsto support organizational mission and vision.
§Collaborate with other health careprofessionals in the provision and improvement of patient care.
§Project a professional image to thepublic. Dress in a professional manner.
§Maintain Human Resources files within thecurrent HRIS platform and complete e-learning requirements in a timely fashion.

§Extensive knowledge of the daily operations ofa not-for-profit substance use disorder treatment facility.

§Nursing degree from an accredited institutionor equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.

Education/Experience
Master's Degree in nursing Preferred. Knowledge and skill obtained through attainment of current Registered Nurse license for assigned program and five years of nursing experience. Skill in assigning and directing work as evidenced by two year of supervisory experience. Skill in med-surg care as evidenced by two years of experience. Knowledge of detoxification services as evidenced by at least one year of experience in a detoxification setting. Knowledge of mental health services as evidenced by at least two years of experience in a mental health setting.§Knowledge of Medical assisted treatments
Licenses/Certifications
§Valid RIRegistered Nurse license.
§Maintain a validCPR certification
§Pursuit of CARNor holds a CARN
