The System Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will provide leadership and input into the issues surrounding Advanced Practice Providers within the LCMC Health NICUs. This position will function as liaison between NICU APPs, LCMC NICU nursing and administrative leadership, and the LCMC Medical Group. The System Lead NNP will also maintain clinical privileging and will be responsible for providing care in an advanced practice nursing role, under approved protocols in accordance within the NNP Scope of Practice. The NNP, will provide primary management in the NICU for infants, including assessment and management of patients, education, and research at each LCMC facility NICU. The NNP will attend and manage all high risk deliveries under the direction of neonatology medical staff when applicable.

GENERAL DUTIES
Assessment:
Assesses patients for urgent, chronic, and emergent conditions. Uses relevant data to evaluate for any physiologic change and utilizes data to formulate plan of care.Clinical Interventions:
Performs therapeutic interventions to address acute and critical health problems. Specific interventions are listed in the Scope of Practice and approved as a part of the credentialing/privileging process. Analyzes the indications, contradictions, risk of complications and cost-benefits of therapeutic interventions.Plan of Care:
Manages the plan of care through evaluation, modification and documentation according to the patient's response to therapy. Manages changes in condition with a focus on optimizing the patient outcomes. Incorporates health promotion, health protection and injury prevention measures into the plan of care within the context of the complex acute, critical and chronic illness. Facilitates the patients transition between and within health care settings.Education:
Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team. Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.Patient Safety and Quality:
Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.Leadership:
Collaborate actively to work with the NICU Medical Director and Clinical Director to set the plan, goals and evaluation of the LCMC NICU care. Work with the administrative leaders in facilitating the development, support and management of the APP group. Complete scheduling for APPs working in the NICU always ensuring adequate coverage. Act as the liaison between the NICU APPs and the Nursing Director, the NICU Medical Director, Lead NNPs, and LCMC Leadership. Promote positive, effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork with the entire NICU team and the entire department for the benefit of patient care. Engages in evaluation process of the NICU APPs. To ensure quality patient care in the NICU. Facilitates change to meet organizational goals; develops and implements strategies to reduce costs and increase patient satisfaction; and actively participates in and leads discussion of quality results and patient feedback, problem solving and development of plans to improve quality of care and service. Facilitate onboarding of new staff and ease transition into the new role as NNP. Organization and management of a formal orientation program for novice and experienced NNP’s to help transition into a successful role as an NNP. Facilitates working relationships among all levels of staff to meet patient care requirements. Provides clinical oversight, including work assignments, training and evaluation in accordance with the organization, and specific, respective departmental policies and procedures. Follows up and supports efforts of colleagues to implement improvement action plans. Actively participates in at least one council, hospital, committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area. Models appropriate judgment in the follow-up of patient care issues, including use of physician, nursing and/or administrative chain of command. Involvement with patient complaints and requests for service immediately and courteously.EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
