Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

Performs other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.Maintains clean work area.Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.Performs routine maintenance in accordance with schedules determined by supervisor.Acquires and maintains a full complement of personal tools as necessary to perform general repair and service work.Provides technical assistance to plant supervisory personnel as related to employee orientation and training and/or training activities.Immediately responds to every breakdown to ensure machinery is up and running.Must be proactive, detect minor problems and correct them before they become major problems. Locates areas in need of repair, determines necessary repairs and performs work as appropriate or reports problem to supervisor.Must maintain a neat and clean work area, and have a good turnover with production staff.Identifies any safety discrepancies and take immediate action.Utilizes plant CMMMS system to open and close work orders and track routine maintenance.Assists with inventory stock and notify maintenance lead when inventory is low.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Must be able to work collaboratively with co-workers.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Ability to read and write comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Ability to address issues involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Ability to effectively communicate ideas, information and or work assignments with co-workers and management as needed.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.Ability to read a standard ruler to 1/32” and a metric ruler to 1mm.Ability to read and comprehend an electrical blueprint.Ability to troubleshoot live electrical. Ability to read and comprehend machine blueprint.Ability to effectively troubleshoot machines to keep down time to a minimum.

Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years prior experience involving general plant maintenance work involving both electrical and mechanical systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.

Frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 125 pounds.

Requires constant movement and bending.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, chemicals and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
