Position Overview:

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering, Inc. (CME) is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in analog and power design. The engineer will develop, prototype, and test analog, power, and mixed-signal components and systems for industrial, defense, and space applications. This role involves designing precision analog circuits, power management systems, and conducting root cause failure analysis. The engineer will also create test procedures and ensure compliance with electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Analog & Power Design: Lead the design of analog circuits, including amplifiers, filters, power supplies, signal conditioning circuits, and power management systems.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analog and power systems with digital and RF/microwave components.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Build and test prototypes of analog and power circuits to meet performance, reliability, safety, and EMI standards.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis: Perform detailed analysis on failures in analog and power systems, identifying causes and implementing solutions.
  • Test Procedure Development: Develop and optimize test procedures and systems to validate analog and power system performance and reliability.
  • EMI Compliance: Design and test systems to ensure they meet EMI regulations.
  • Documentation: Create detailed design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, test plans, and failure analysis reports.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with suppliers to source components that meet CME's quality and performance standards.
  • Technical Support: Provide support during the manufacturing process and troubleshoot analog and power system issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in analog and power technology and apply best practices to improve design and testing processes.

Experience & Skills:

  • Experience: 5+ years in analog and power circuit design, including hands-on prototyping, testing, and root cause analysis. Recent experience is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in circuit design software, with a solid understanding of analog and power design principles.
  • Analog & Power Expertise: Expertise in designing, simulating, and testing analog and power circuits using tools like SPICE or OrCAD.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Testing Procedures: Experience developing and refining test procedures for analog and power components.
  • EMI Knowledge: Familiar with electromagnetic interference standards and materials.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for complex analog and power systems.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Innovation: Commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in analog and power technologies and improving design processes.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of creating clear technical reports and presenting findings to diverse audiences.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Travel:

  • Physical Demands: This role involves Sedentary Work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Primarily involves sitting, though some walking or standing may be required during testing or inspections. Occasional handling of small components or tools may be necessary.
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based.
  • Travel: Occasional travel (0%-5%) may be required.

Minimum Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Other Requirements:

  • Positions with CME require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. Applicants must be "U.S. Persons" as defined in these regulations.
  • In compliance with U.S. federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
