Description

The Maintenance Technician performs duties under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager. Works independently to perform maintenance, repair, and/or modification of the plants PLC's, manufacturing systems, and the plants mechanical and electrical systems. Is involved in fabrication, application, installation and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment as well as the installation of electrical conduit and machine/building wiring. Highly responsive to the needs of all production operations and ensures that all operating equipment and plant facilities are maintained in effective, safe operating condition allowing for optimal productivity from all manufacturing processes.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

Must perform all aspects of their position with Safety as the Top priority.  Maintain, repair, and safely troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems associated with a wide variety of production equipment. Responsible for preventative maintenance, project work, and other work as assigned. Must have a working knowledge of PLC’s and Frequency Drives and show an ability to troubleshoot a down system with the use of a laptop. Work individually or with team members and maintain a positive work environment. Have ability to follow specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings. Must have excellent diagnostic skills for trouble shooting manufacturing equipment.  Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery as needed.  Install and repair electrical systems and electronic components of industrial machinery using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives. ? Must be able to safely operate equipment such as fork and scissor lift for overhead work.  Millwright abilities (welding, pipefitting, and the use of machine shop equipment) a plus.? Ability to climb ladders?? ?

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing environment or similar position. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on mechanical and / or electrical equipment (installation, maintenance and troubleshooting).  Understanding of electrical circuits and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Will need to be able to work over-time as required. Be dependable with a commitment to attendance and punctuality. Be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment including weekends (if necessary). Valid driver’s license. PLC & Welding skills a plus. All team members are expected to follow the Code of Conduct to the highest standards as well as to adhere to the Attendance Policy of VT Industries

Physical Requirements

Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties.
