Experiential Learning and Career Success invites applications for a Community Equity Career Outreach and Events Manager to oversee UM’s employer outreach and events programming in support of career readiness among underrepresented student populations. The Community Equity Career Outreach and Events Manager contributes to UM’s efforts to foster inclusive prosperity and the broader community’s efforts to retain and support diverse talent in Montana. This position will seek to understand diverse students’ career goals and to connect UM’s diverse and underrepresented student populations with employers and career pathways. The position will work closely with American Indian Student Services, Tribal Relations, and the Program Manager for the Payne Family Native American Center to connect Native American students to meaningful work experiences and careers. This position will also collaborate with others to build and strengthen connections between UM and organizations and businesses that seek to diversify their workforce and build more inclusive work environments. This position is grant funded. 

Primary responsibilities include:

Coordinate employer events, recruitment, and outreach. Connect underrepresented students to resources, tools, and experiences to support their career readiness. Coordinate to increase underrepresented student access to career pathways.

Required Skills

Event planning, marketing, and public relations knowledge. Demonstrated commitment to advancing more inclusive, equitable environments. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with a wide-ranging group of individuals. Information system and database management knowledge. Minimum Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience in establishing and growing a program. Ability to work with employers to create and grow opportunities for UM students. Knowledge of University and Federal recruiting/employment regulation. Experience with Handshake. Experience working with underrepresented student populations.

Position Details

Position Title: Community Equity Career Outreach and Events Manager (Program Manager)

Position Number: 010570

Department: Experiential Learning and Career Success 

Work Schedule: Full-time, FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

This position is grant funded. 

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
