Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our senior care community. The ideal candidate will have experience in memory care, assisted living, or long-term care settings and will be passionate about enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments. This role is essential in fostering a supportive environment that encourages social interaction and personal growth among residents.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Facilitate group activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to monitor residents' participation and well-being during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in activity programs.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to foster a positive community atmosphere.
- Provide support in memory care programs designed specifically for individuals with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in memory care, home community care, assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors and their families.
- A genuine passion for working with the elderly population and enhancing their quality of life.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents' needs and preferences.
