The Radiologic Technologist is expected to produce high-quality Radiographic images, under the guidance of the Radiology Supervisor and BMC Radiologists. These films shall be produced using ALARA techniques. The Radiologic Technologist will interact in a safe confidential and professional environment with a wide range of patient ages, cultures, and physical states.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs Diagnostic Radiographic examination following department protocol and utilizing technical factors to ensure the highest quality result in:
  • Head and Neck Studies.
  • Chest Studies.
  • Spine and Pelvis.
  • Upper Extremity.
  • Lower Extremity.
  • Abdomen.
  • Pediatric.
  • Strong ability to effectively use Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and electronic image archiving software.
  • Follows Radiation safety procedures on all exams keeping them ALARA.
  • Appropriately utilizes shields to reduce exposure to patients.
  • Sets technical factors to reduce patient exposure and produce high-quality films.
  • Use universal precautions as necessary.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with all of the age groups we serve.
  • Prepares patients for the exam by explaining the exam procedure in a kind, respectful manner. An interpreter will be utilized as needed.
  • Carries out exams in a professional, confidential, and safe manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize age-related pathology and physical presentation when performing exams and choosing technical factors.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High School/GED Required.
  • Graduate of the AMA Approved Radiologic Technology Training Program. 
  • An associate's Degree is strongly desired.
  • ARRT Certified.
  • Licensed by the state of Massachusetts in Radiography.
  • CPR Certified and ability maintain on an annual basis.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in a high-volume environment performing diagnostic radiographic examination.
  • Good working knowledge in the field of Radiology.
  • Ability to assimilate changes in technical Radiographic settings.
