This is a fulltime position with Los AngelesUnified School District. The ideal candidate will determine spaceneeds and make recommendations for longrange planning andalterations. They will support the administration of restackingplans create architectural designs using CAD and 3D software andprepare drawings specifications and cost estimates.Responsibilities include conducting field surveys preparingapplications for agency approvals and providing code analysis. Witha minimum of five years of experience in architectural design andproficiency in AutoCAD and 3D software the candidate must possess abachelors degree in architecture or engineering. They should have astrong knowledge of building materials codes and design principlesas well as excellent communication and problemsolvingskills.
Responsibilities
- Determines space needs in terms of anticipatedoperational requirements making projections and recommendations forlongrange planning or alterations
- Participatesand supports in the administration of the restacking plan includingreviewing related documents providing responses to Requests forClarifications and preparing drawings foralterations.
- Creates scope of work and developsarchitectural design options using CAD and 3D software forpresentation and approval.
- Creates drawingsspecifications and estimates for building alterations and equipmentinstallations based on space requirements and departmentfunctions.
- Provides analysis and conducts fieldsurveys and research about planning and designdevelopment.
- Prepares applications and submitsto various agencies for approvals. Prepares design packets andreports with executive staff.
- Prepare complexarchitectural drawings construction details and alterationimprovement and addition to existingstructure.
- Provide code analysis asneeded.
- Performs other duties asassigned
RequiredExperience:
- A minimumof five (5) years fulltime paid professional experience working ina large commercial public agency or school facilities that requirethe use of at least AutoCAD and one (1) 3D design software e.g.SketchUp.
- Experience in performingarchitectural design and coordinating drafting with draftingtechnicians conducting surveys and field investigations andreviewing drawings submitted by vendors andcontractors.
- Ability toanalyze architectural problems related to assigned projects andmake recommendations for the solution of problems of major officespace utilizations equipment and optimizing spaceallocations.
- Ability to interpret codes andpossess knowledge of the California Department of EducationAmerican Disability Act and various building codes.
RequiredEducation:
- Graduationfrom a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree inarchitecture or engineering
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of architecturalcharacteristics of building materials
- Knowledgeof building codes related to schools large commercial andgovernmental construction
- Ability to interpretcodes for California dept. of Education ADA and Building &Safety and Fire codes.
- Candidates shall beproficient in creating architectural design options space planningand construction document details.
