Job Summary

Surplus staff is reasonable to safely pick up all items that are no longer needed, used or wanted by the college departments. This person is under supervision of the surplus coordinator and Supervisor. items that could be picked up could include appliances, lab, classroom and office supplies, wide verity of furniture, equipment vehicles, computers and other electronic equipment plus many other items. This position has a regular schedule but may require flexibility as needed based on project that does not interfere with classroom learning. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Teardown classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and labs Read and follow work order directions and inventory to be removed from each location. Remove surplus items from rooms, and buildings to the moving trucks and sort the items as they are unloaded. Move and lift heavy objects that could weigh 100 lbs. or more by using team lifts and appropriate tools. Equipment, carts, and hand trucks. Communicate effectively, follow directions, and ask questions as needed. Be able to drive various vehicles, and operate electric pallet jacks, and forklifts. Assist other areas at the warehouse, this could include shipping and receiving, courier services Assist Furniture set-up and other facilities teams as needed. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications Valid Utah Driver’s License High school diploma or GED Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
