We need our Inspectors to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. In this role you will: perform well defined and sometimes difficult inspection tasks, including monitoring quality control procedures. You will inspect various facets of work on the construction site and perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Our inspectors document nonconformance and may participate in discussions to determine appropriate resolution. Willingness to travel and/or to relocate to field sites is expected.

Responsibilities:

oCarries out inspection activities to ensure conformance

oConducts site surveys, obtaining relevant information, equipment and materials

oSearches for physical survey evidence (building ties, monuments, fences, etc.) and determines whether or not existing survey evidence suffices

oObtains additional survey evidence as necessary and determines when enough information has been obtained

oAnalyzes situations or data from which answers are easily obtained using standard procedure and practice

oAssists to compile field data in report form for review of project designer

Qualifications:

oA Post Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering

oDesignation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji) Technology/Technician or currently as an engineering university/college student

oPrevious engineering/construction experience is an asset

oPrior experience working on municipal and MTO projects

oEither registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.

oAble to work on weekends and nights, as required

oStrong interpersonal and communication skills

oAbility to work well in a team environment

oProficiency with MS Office
