Summary

DWC’s mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy. DWC has recently launched the Every Woman Housed Initiative to mobilize housing solutions for unaccompanied women and women with children residing without shelter in the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. The key components of this initiative are outreach and intake, short-term housing responses, and long-term housing solutions. 

The role of the Senior Interim Housing Services Coordinator is to assist with onsite service coordination including crisis intervention, meals distribution, and case management for the Interim Housing program. This includes direct support to women residing onsite. The Sr. Interim Housing Services Coordinator will work closely with the Sr. Interim Housing Program Manager and Interim Housing Program Supervisor to ensure effective program management. This position reports directly to the Sr. Interim Housing Program Manager. 

Essential Functions  Manage the delivery of direct services to participants for on-site services daily, including planning and coordination of services, such as meals, enrichment activities, and enrichment groups.  Monitor daily operations, including coverage, set up, clean up, implementation, and oversight of activities in on-site programs. Train and mentor program staff, interns, volunteers, and participants in the provision of services.  Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and mediation as necessary meanwhile creating a safe and welcoming environment.  Provide outreach and engagement to participants of the Interim Housing program, through on-site services, housing related assistance, basic needs, , and referrals to physical and mental health services, employment and education services, and public benefits where eligible.  Work to effectively meet clients’ needs and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy, and collaboration with DWC staff and other community service providers.  Maintain accurate and timely data records of activities, case management notes, and financial assistance and other services provided to each client, additional reports as assigned,  Participate in individual and group supervision, trainings, and meetings.  Utilize Evidence Based Practices in service delivery such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Critical Time Intervention, and Housing First practices.  Provide monthly written reports to the Sr. Interim Housing Program Manager; Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility  

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

Physical Demands  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, walk up and down stairs, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Job Location

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications  High School Diploma or GED required.  Direct service provision with homeless or high-risk population preferred. Experience working in a multi-service agency, or similar shelter or day center environment preferred.  Experience working with issues of homelessness, trauma, mental health and substance abuse preferred.  Knowledge of the complexity of poverty and women’s homelessness, including mental illness, needs of older adults and the impact on individual and community health.  Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to lead a diverse group of individuals.  Ability to exercise and model good judgment, especially in crisis situations.  Able to climb ladders, stand, bend and/or walk for an extended period of time, and lift up to 55 pounds on a regular basis without physical limitations required.  Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and set and meet goals and deadlines.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.  Current valid California state driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle with good driving record Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English a plus  Cultural humility.  Must be a CA resident and live at least 75 miles from the office and must be available for in-person meetings at the DWC offices.  Must provide documentation of a negative TB test result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.  You will be required to be up to date on your vaccinations against COVID-19 and provide documentation. If you are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible to receive a booster dose, then you must receive the booster dose within 30 days of becoming eligible and eligibility begins 5 months after receiving the final primary dose. If you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose, you are considered up to date with your vaccinations. Unvaccinated individuals must receive their 1st dose before their first day of hire. Partially vaccinated (for 2-dose series) individuals must receive their 2nd dose within 30 days of being hired. The second dose of a two-dose vaccine series is due 4 weeks after the primary dose.
Pay Range 

25.00/hr
